Mike was elected as District 4 Councilmember in May of 2023 after previously serving from 2016-2019. Mike is a graduate of Belton High School and Tarleton State University.

He grew up in Temple and returned after college in 1994 to live in an area that is now part of District 4. With his return, he was employed with the family business Bell Contractors, Inc., a local utility construction company. As of 2016, Mike has owned, operated and expanded the underground utility business his father established in 1977.

Mike's passion for serving the city spans over 25 years. He has served on many boards and commissions, including Planning & Zoning, Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) No. 1, Development Standards Advisory Board, Parks & Recreation Advisory Board, Zoning Board of Adjustments, and several others. On a few of these boards, Mike has served as Chairman and/or Vice Chairman. He has also been involved for years in the Temple Area Builders Association and is currently Vice President of Government Relations for the Temple Chamber of Commerce.

He has been married to his wife, Laurel, for 30 years, and together they raised twin sons, Sammy and Lester (26). Mike and Laurel attend and are actively engaged in the Belton Church of Christ. When not working at his business or for the community, Mike enjoys hunting, fishing, motorcycle touring, and just about anything else outdoors.
