**Belton City Council Advances Infrastructure, Safety, and Services Initiatives**

The Belton City Council convened on October 14, 2025, addressing a comprehensive agenda focused on municipal services, infrastructure upgrades, and regulatory updates. Key decisions included the preliminary approval of a commercial solid waste collection franchise, the adoption of new building safety codes, and significant investments in public safety and technological infrastructure. The Council moved forward with several initiatives aimed at enhancing city operations and public welfare.

Among the most significant items, the Council considered an ordinance on first reading to grant a commercial solid waste collection franchise to Frontier Waste Solutions, a measure poised to impact city services following a future public hearing. Additionally, a new schedule was approved for the adoption of the 2024 International Codes and the 2023 National Electric Code, setting updated standards for construction and safety within Belton. Strategic investments were also authorized, including the purchase of new vehicles for the Police Department to bolster public safety capabilities, and a major upgrade to the City’s aging data center infrastructure with new servers, switches, storage, and VMware software, vital for maintaining efficient municipal operations.

Further financial approvals included funding for employee insurance contracts, demonstrating the City's commitment to its workforce. The Council also made a personnel appointment, designating Kim Preston as Councilmember Stephanie O’Banion’s representative on the Ethics Commission.
